Jack Kaluva – Biography

Jack Kaluva only began exhibiting his soft-wood sculptures in 2007 when he was invited by fellow-artist Patricia Njeri to come on board with her at the Village Market Exhibition Hall.

Prior to that, this enterprising self-taught artist had been everything: from a pest fumigator to a mitumba salesman.

All that changed once Njeri gave him his first box of chisels. From then on, he knew his life’s purpose was to be an artist.

Vurrently, Jack exhibits at Banana Hill Art Gallery, while a collection of his “marvelous musical instruments” are on permanent display at Nairobi’s famous Tribe Hotel.
